The announcement was made during the NATO Days & Czech Air Force Days in Ostrava. “This confirmation from our customer is crucial for Aero, as it demonstrates that the L-39 Skyfox will remain a key platform for training 4th and 5th-generation fighter pilots,” stated Viktor Sotona, CEO of Aero Vodochody.
Jiří Protiva, Director of LOM PRAHA, added that the modernised fleet, featuring a new camouflage scheme, will not only facilitate effective training for Czech Air Force pilots but also enable the company to offer training services to foreign NATO partners. The Skyfox meets the most stringent Alliance standards and serves as a benchmark platform for European pilot training.
The original contract for the first four L-39NG aircraft was signed in 2022, with the first two jets delivered in February 2025 and the remaining two in August of the same year. The L-39 Skyfox is a modern, multi-role aircraft suitable for training, tactical, and reconnaissance missions, integrating advanced avionics with a powerful jet engine.
Aero Vodochody, the Czech Republic’s largest aircraft manufacturer, positions itself as a market leader in jet trainer aircraft. The L-39 Skyfox enhances the company’s portfolio, strengthening its position in military pilot training and collaboration with armed forces worldwide.
