A Revolution in the Cockpit: Garmin Autoland and Autothrottle

At the heart of the E1000 AX’s innovations are the Garmin Autoland and Autothrottle systems—technologies that were, until recently, reserved almost exclusively for jet aircraft. Autoland enables fully automatic emergency landings without pilot intervention, while Autothrottle manages engine power from takeoff to landing. The result is greater safety, reduced pilot workload, and the elimination of throttle handling errors.

The aircraft also features:

  • An automatic yaw damper,

  • An electronic braking system,

  • A Garmin GRA 5500 radar altimeter,

  • CoolView windows with UV protection,

  • The advanced SafeTaxi 3D ground guidance system, and

  • An optional GWX 8000 StormOptix weather radar.

Also included is PlaneSync, which provides remote access to the aircraft’s status and facilitates automatic database updates.

Unrivaled Performance

The E1000 AX is powered by the proven Pratt & Whitney PT6A-67A engine, producing 1,200 horsepower. Thanks to aerodynamic enhancements and lightweight composite construction, the aircraft offers:

  • Maximum Speed: 333 ktas (approx. 617 km/h)

  • Rate of Climb: 4,000 ft/min (1,219 m/min)

  • Range: up to 1,560 nautical miles (2,890 km)

  • Service Ceiling: 34,000 ft (10,363 m)

  • Payload with full fuel: 534 kg

This makes it a leader in its class, with no direct competitor in the single-engine turboprop segment.

Comfort Takes Center Stage: The Skyline Collection

Comfort has also been a key focus for Epic. The cabin is spacious, quiet, and well-ventilated, with a 6.6 psi pressure differential ensuring a comfortable environment even at higher altitudes. As part of the Skyline Collection, customers can choose from eight new color schemes and over 200 other interior and exterior customization options. Optional True Blue lithium-ion batteries and Starlink internet connectivity are also available.

Who is the AX For?

The price of a fully equipped E1000 AX ranges from $4.7 to $4.85 million. The aircraft is aimed primarily at private owners, charter operators, and corporations seeking a fast and safe alternative to twin-engine turboprops or light jets.

Summary

The Epic E1000 AX delivers an exceptional combination of performance, technology, and comfort. It is proof that the single-engine turboprop category can offer a fully automated, fast, and elegant mode of travel. For general aviation pilots looking for more than just a ‘bus in the sky,’ the AX could be the new benchmark.

Hi! I’m Beatrix, and at AeroInfo.eu I’m in charge of everything that keeps this European aviation portal for pilots running smoothly. I publish articles, tweak whatever needs fixing, and make sure everything works as it should. I live somewhere between text editing and airplanes – and I absolutely love that combination. Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve looked up at the sky and dreamed of flying and piloting aircraft. Now, I’m finally making that dream come true – I’m currently training to become a pilot at the Aeroprague flight school, and with every flight, I’m getting closer to my goal. It’s not always easy, but that just makes me even more determined. I want to show that when you truly love something, you can chase it – even all the way to the clouds.
